Impact
The Spring Branch Community Health Center has been able to rapidly extend its reach within the local population. Since the health center opened its doors in May of 2004 we have seen a stable increase in our yearly patient base. After five years the health center reached capacity at our first location and moved to a larger space in order to expand our ability to serve our patients.

Target Population:
The Spring Branch target area is largely a minority, low-income area dominated by Hispanics who speak Spanish as their first language. The population is young, with a significant number of racial and ethnic minorities and economic disparities. Nearly half of the Hispanic population is recent immigrants and over half of the community is at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Level. Additionally, the target population suffers disproportionately from obesity, diabetes, asthma, high rates of unintentional injuries and teen pregnancy. Within Spring Branch, there are 22 medical facilities with 88 specialists, though none offer health care services to the poor on a sliding fee scale. As a result, many of the areas’ uninsured and underinsured go without health care services.
