Dr. David Krusleski, a graduate of Rice University in 1986, received his Medical Degree from the University of Texas Medical School at Houston (now McGovern Medical School). He completed his Family Medicine residency at Southwest Memorial Hospital, and a Fellowship at the University of Texas Medical School. He has been in practice since 1994, and is board certified in Family Medicine. He has over 25 years of experience working in Community Health Centers. He joined Spring Branch Community Health Center in 2017. Dr. Krusleski's goal is to improve the healthcare of the community providing hope for a better future. He speaks Spanish. In his spare time, he is active in his church, scouting, and spending time with his family.
Aida Alvarez is a Family Nurse Practitioner who graduated in 2015. She joined SBCHC on March, 2017. Aida believes in listening to the patients, providing individualized care, and empowering patients with appropriate information to make informed decisions regarding their care. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling and being with family.
Erika is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner and joined the SBCHC family in November 2019. She received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Dillard University in New Orleans, Louisiana, in the class of 1999. She has an extensive background as a Registered Nurse in Critical Care and Trauma Services and obtained her Critical Care certification during that time. Erika has experience in leadership and management in her past role as an Administrative Director/House Supervisor and has also worked in the Legal Nurse Consultant field. She obtained her Master of Science degree from Prairie View A&M University College of Nursing. She cares for adolescents and adults and enjoys chronic disease management and caring for patients with intellectual disabilities. She pursued a career as a Family Nurse Practitioner because she saw a need at the community level to impact the health of patients in the intensive care units for preventable illnesses. Her passion is to help decrease health disparities across the life span and improve the overall health of vulnerable populations. When not working, she enjoys traveling and cooking for her family and friends.
Ken Isaacs is a Board-Certified Family Nurse Practitioner who began his career in 1995 as a License Vocational Nurse. Mr. Isaacs completed his nursing undergraduate studies at the University of Texas and graduate studies at Walden University in 2017. Ken treats patients of all ages and is passionate about health promotion and disease prevention. He currently resides in the Houston area with his wife Toni and their two children. When not caring for patients, he enjoys spending time with his family and restoring classic American automobiles, genealogy and studying history.
Ms. Luchia Langley, FNP-C is originally from El Paso, Texas, and is fluent in Spanish and English. She attended Texas Woman's University in Houston, Texas, for her undergraduate degree in Nursing. As a registered nurse since 2007, Ms. Langley worked in labor and delivery, outpatient surgery, and school nursing settings.
Ms. Langley later attended Prairie View A&M University for her Master's degree in Nursing in the Family Nurse Practitioner program. Ms. Langley has been a Certified Family Nurse Practitioner since 2014, providing care to patients of all ages (newborn to adult) in the Katy and Cypress area.
Prior to settling in the Katy/Cypress area, Ms. Langley lived in South America. Living outside the United States sparked a passion for learning about other cultures, and in helping individual patients with their unique health needs. In her spare time, Ms. Langley is dedicated to her family and pets. Ms. Langley is proud to be a part of the SBCHC team and helping to build healthier families and communities through high quality, comprehensive health care.
Ngan Ly joined SBCHC in 2022 as a Registered Dietitian. She earned her Bachelor of Business Administration and completed the Didactic Program in Dietetics at the University of Houston. Among her professional interests, she is a member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. Her personal interests include health and wellness activities, volunteer work at the Houston Food Bank, and traveling.
Billy Marsh is a Family Nurse Practitioner with over 25 years' experience as a Registered Nurse. He earned his Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Phoenix in 2012, and completed his Post Masters Certificate: Family Nurse Practitioner at University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston in 2020. He is board certified as an Advance Practice Registered Nurse, and by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners.
Laura Otillar has been a Physician Assistant for Spring Branch Community Health Center since 2006 and has practiced as a PA since 2001 in the fields of Dermatology, Gastroenterology, Family Medicine and Pediatrics. Laura's main areas of expertise are Family Medicine and Pediatrics with a focus on treatment and prevention of disease. She is both English and Spanish speaking, and has extensive experience treating diabetes, hypertension and high cholesterol as well as mental health issues such as depression and anxiety. In pediatrics, Laura has broad experience with common colds, allergies, dermatology and other pediatric related issues. Laura is committed to the health and well-being of the communities she serves through medical treatment and educating her patients to build a healthy future for themselves and their families. Laura earned her Master of Science Degree from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas.
Flor Vasquez Rivera is a Board Certified Nurse Practitioner who graduated from the UT Health Science Center in Houston in 2014. She sees patients of all ages and has a special interest in preventive medicine and health maintenance. Among the many conditions she treats, Flor sees patients for acute illnesses, such as, cough, cold, flu; acute injuries; wart or skin tags; chronic disease management; and wellness exams including well woman exams. Flor became a nurse practitioner because she wanted a fulfilling career in direct patient care in collaboration with the medical team. Flor enjoys the continuity of care that family medicine provides. She believes it is important to help patients achieve their wellness goals and pursue happiness. Away from the clinic, Flor likes to spend quality time with friends and family, traveling, and reading.
Meghan Thomeer joined Spring Branch Community Health Center in 2014, specifically at the Pitner clinic. Meghan chose a specialty in Pediatrics because she can work with the entire family and serve as a counselor to her patients while caring for their medical needs. Meghan shares a great love and passion for her pediatric patients, saying, "kids are a lot more fun.” Her personal philosophy as a medical professional and person is to do what she can to help other people. Meghan's passion for helping others allows her to put herself in other people's situations to get a better understanding of who they are, what they're going through, and how she can help.
Dr. Fatima Aly earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Science from the University of St. Andrews, Scotland in 1982, and her medical degree from the University of Manchester Medical School, United Kingdom, in 1985. She has served on faculty in Pediatrics at Texas Tech University Health Science Center El Paso, Paul L. Foster School of Medicine, and at McGovern Medical School, UTHealth, in Houston. She has broad experiences in primary and continuing medical care management, strong academic background and relevant certifications. She strongly believes in the Medical Home model of patient care.
Farah Abdi Buck MSN APRN FNP-BC is a Board-Certified Advanced Practice Registered Nurse, Family Nurse Practitioner specializing in the care of the Family and experienced in caring for newborns through older adults.
Farah studied nursing at the BSN level at the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville where she developed a strong interest in community public health and mental healthcare in underserved populations. She received her Master of Science in Nursing (MSN), Family Nurse Practitioner degree, from Purdue University Global of Indiana, while completing her clinical training in the Houston area.
Farah strongly believes in the benefits of integrated primary/behavioral healthcare and the significant need for accessible mental healthcare providers with a holistic approach. She has completed additional post graduate training in Psychiatry, including the Patient-Centered Mental Healthcare in Pediatric Primary Care Fellowship through The Reach Institute of New York City. She is currently studying towards Psychiatric Mental Health certification (PMHNP) at Purdue University Global.
Cybil Fregia is a Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner with over 20 years of nursing experience working with babies to adolescents. Cybil received a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from Lamar University in 1996. She began her nursing career working as an RN in the Newborn Nursery and Neonatal ICU. In 1999, she obtained her Master of Science degree in nursing from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. She chose to go into primary care pediatrics as a Pediatric NP to have the privilege of watching her patients grow from infancy into young adulthood. Her passion has always been to work with children. She believes the most rewarding and enjoyable parts of her job are interacting with the children and their families. Her goal is to provide quality care while educating the parents as well as the patients and to consistently provide guidance in obtaining and maintaining a healthy way of life.
Dr. Enrique "Henry" Gonzales is a board-certified pediatrician and a lifelong Texan. He was born and raised in the Rio Grande Valley, went to college at UT Brownsville (now UTRGV), and received both his MD degree and general pediatrics residency training at UTHSC in San Antonio. He then practiced for two years in the Austin area before joining SBCHC in 2020.
He is passionate about preventative health for children and spending time providing education to his patients and their parents. His goal is for each family to leave the clinic knowing more about the patient's health than when they came in.
In his free time, he enjoys reading, drawing, and even playing video games. While he's rarely silent for very long, if you want to get him talking, bring up Star Wars or Batman!
Dr. Josue Maldonado Custodio is a Board-Certified General Pediatrician who believes in working with patients and caregivers as a team to keep children healthy. He believes in the power of patient/family education to help them take control of their health. He completed his medical training at the University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine and graduated from his specialty training in Pediatrics at Hospital Episcopal San Lucas Pediatric Residency, both in Puerto Rico. He has experience managing chronic conditions like Diabetes and Thyroid disease. He is fully bilingual in English and Spanish. His hobbies are: playing with his cats, chess, video games, movies, reading fantasy/fiction books.
Candice Roman-Boyd is a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner with over 15 years of pediatric experience. She graduated from University of South Alabama in December 2011 with her Masters of Science in Nursing, Pediatric Nurse Practitioner program. She enjoys caring for all children, but she has a special interest in breast feeding, infant care, asthma, and school based health. Her hobbies include cooking, spending time with friends and family, and traveling.
Dr. Andrea Silva completed her undergraduate degree from the University of Texas-Pan American (now UTRGV) in Edinburg, Texas, and graduated from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston with her MD. She completed her residency at Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin/Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee, and joined SBCHC in July 2020. She became a Pediatrician because she loves working with children and their families to help them grow into healthy adults. She has a passion for preventative medicine, nutrition and, being a mom herself, newborn care and breastfeeding. She enjoys developing long-term relationships with her families and watching her patients grow. Outside of the clinic, she enjoys spending time with her husband and daughter, cooking, working out and traveling. She also enjoys playing with her dogs Poundcake and Zoey.
Dr. Nalia Soorty graduated from the Government College for Women in Karachi, Pakistan in 1982, and earned her medical degree in 1990 from Sind Medical College, affiliated with the University of Karachi. She is board certified in pediatric medicine and brings over 30 years of clinical experience to care for her patients. Her professional interests include Pediatric Endocrinology in which she completed a three year fellowship, learning to manage Pediatric Obesity, Diabetes, growth disorders, pubertal issues and other endocrine disorders. She speaks English, Urdu, and Hindi well, as well as Medical Spanish, of which she is learning more every day. She likes to walk, travel, explore National Parks, and watch movies and TV.
Moncenya Chatman, MD, Director of Women's Health Women's Health
Dr. Moncenya Chatman joined SBCHC in 2020 to expand access to women’s health care services. Dr. Chatman earned her bachelor's degree from Auburn University and then earned her doctorate from the University of Alabama, School of Medicine. She completed her postdoctoral training in Tennessee and her fellowship in Salem, North Carolina. Dr. Chatman holds professional membership with the American College of Obstetricians and the Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine. She has received multiple professional accolades and her research has been published four times. Dr. Chatman specializes in identifying high-risk pregnancies and assisting women to navigate complex treatment plans during pregnancy.
Van Nguyen-Rubio, APRN, WHNP-BC Women's Health
Van Nguyen-Rubio, APRN WHNP-BC, is a passionate and committed Women's Health Nurse Practitioner. She obtained her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) in 1999 from Prairie View A&M University - Houston and her Masters of Science in Nursing (MSN) in 2004 from The University of Texas Health Science Center of Houston. She has spent twenty years of her career dedicating her gifts and talents to the underserved population. For the last twelve years, she has been working with the high-risk Obstetrics population. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with family, volunteering with church, and dog rescue missions.
Dr. Rafael deAyala joined SBCHC in 2022 as medical director of the new Memorial Clinic. He earned his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Texas at Austin, and his M.D. from the UT Southwestern Medical School, Dallas. His professional interests are in the areas of obstetrics and gynecology. Among his personal interests are landscaping, travel and family.
Samantha Martin earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Bradley University in 2009 and her Doctor of Nursing Practice in Midwifery from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 2017. She became a Certified Nurse Midwife through the recognition of the American Midwifery Certification Board (AMCB) in 2017. Samantha enjoys spending time outdoors with her husband, Tony, her two young girls, Olivia and Abigail, and their dog, Brutus.
Candy Espinoza received her Associates Degree in Nursing in 2005 from Laramie County Community College, and her undergraduate and graduate degrees as a family nurse practitioner from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi in 2021. She has 16 years of maternal-child nursing experience and is board certified by the American Association of Nurse Practitioners. She participates in professional organizations such as Texas Nurse Practitioners (TNP), the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP), and the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG). Her personal interests include spending time with family, admiring nature, and staying healthy by working out and outdoor cycling.
Terri Taylor received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Prairie View A & M University in 2013 and her Mater of Science in Nursing from Maryville University in St. Louis, Missouri in 2017. She is a board-certified Nurse Practitioner with over six years' experience in patient care in an acute setting and a background in women's health and pediatrics. She is interested in health maintenance, health promotion, risk reduction, disease prevention and support.
Bernadette Bonaparte, MD Internal Medicine
Dr. Bernadette Bonaparte is an Internal medicine physician in the Spring Branch Community Health Center. She is a Diplomate of The American Board of Internal Medicine and a member of American College of Physicians. She completed her residency in Internal Medicine at St. Agnes Healthcare in Baltimore, Maryland in 1999. She has served patients in FQHCs in South Carolina, and private practice in Sugar Land, and Richmond Texas. She is dedicated to her patients and their families.
Sasha Robeye, MD Internal Medicine
Sasha Robeye, MD is an Internal Medicine Physician at Spring Branch Community Health Center. Her practice involves providing quality and compassionate primary care to patients of all socioeconomic backgrounds. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Sciences at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge in 2009, and her M.D. from Morehouse School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia, in 2014. She went on to complete her residency at Houston Methodist Hospital in 2017, and received Internal Medicine Board Certification in 2018. Dr. Robeye is a member of the American College of Physicians and the Harris County Medical Society. She believes in serving society's most vulnerable and has a special commitment to her work, her faith, and very lovely family. Among her personal interests are family, friends, nature, reading, and moments of solitude.
Brenda Edwards is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker-Supervisor (LCSW-S), with more than 12 years' experience in different healthcare settings including behavioral health. She earned her Master's Degree in Social Work from the University of Houston in 2013. Brenda is passionate about helping others and contributing to building/fostering healthier communities. She loves to travel and spend time outdoors, and she enjoys cycling.
Rosa Acosta is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, who provides behavioral therapy to individuals, families and the community. She sees herself as having a mission to provide the very best evidence-based skills in therapy with the goal of giving patients the opportunity to reach higher level functioning by strengthening mental wellness in a non-judgmental setting. Her educational background includes a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Sociology and a Master of Social Work from the University of Houston. She is a seasoned therapist with history working in different settings with diverse populations and in various life stages. Her experience includes working in the following settings: hospital, crisis hotline, emergency shelter, educational outpatient, rehabilitation, school, mental health, and immigration.
Joseph Garza is a Licensed Professional Counselor and behavioral health therapist. He received his Masters of Art of Counseling from Dallas Baptist University. Professionally, he uses his gifts, education and experience to help others navigate through difficulties in their lives and to hopefully reach their goals. His personal interests include ministering using his faith, all outdoor activities and gym time.
Emiliano Herrera, III joined SBCHC in October 2017. He is a bilingual, Spanish and English, Licensed Clinical Social Worker Supervisor (LCSW-S) and therapist. Emiliano graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Spanish and Catholic Studies from the University of St. Thomas in Houston, Texas. Emiliano later received his Master’s degree from the University of Houston, Graduate College Of Social Work. He has wide ranging counseling experience from his work with children, adults, couples and families. Emiliano is committed to fostering healthier communities through improved mental wellness services and resources. He loves to read, run, and spend time outside. Emiliano is a committed husband, father, and volunteers much of his free time to Boy Scouts of America.
Jo Ann Marshall is a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor with more than 12 years' experience. She graduated from Park University in Austin with her Bachelor's degree in Social Psychology and Human Development in 2012, earned her Master's degree in Psychology from Letourneau University in Longview, Texas, in 2019. She is an adaptable and dedicated counselor with a strong background in case management and in building a positive rapport with a diverse range of clients.
Luis F Martinez is a bilingual therapist (Spanish-English) who has been working in the Houston area for more than 10 years in different settings. He received a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from the University of Houston-Downtown, where he graduated with honors, and a Master's of Arts degree in Clinical Psychology from the University of Houston-Clear Lake. He uses Acceptance and Commitment Therapy to help adults, couples, children older than 12, and adolescents learn to be more psychologically flexible. His favorite question to ask is, "Would you rather be Happy or be Right?” In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his family, watching movies and playing soccer. He values helping others.
Luis's professional interest is on working with people who suffer from PTSD, severe anxiety or any type of anxiety including social anxiety and depression. Kathryn Matteson is a Licensed Professional Counselor and behavioral therapist. She earned her MA in Counseling from Prairie View A&M University in 2011. Her professional interests include ADHD in children, adolescents, and adults; and nutritional and integrative medicine for mental health; among many others. Her personal interests extend to six horses, two dogs, two cats (and the feeding of six others) and one Mini Rex rabbit. She enjoys eating out, exercising - particularly hiking in Texas State Parks - and kayaking.
Debbie Jo Stuard joined SBCHC in 2020 as a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor with over 15 years counseling patients in the Houston area. She earned her Bachelor's of Science degree in Human Services from Springfield College of Human Services in 2012, and her Executive Master's in Public Administration from Texas Southern University in Houston in 2017.
Jared Parkinson, DDS, Dental Director Dental
Dr. Parkinson joined SBCHC as a dental director in December of 2019, but has also previously practiced here from 2012-2013 and is excited to be back! He graduated from Brigham Young University with a bachelor's in chemistry and in 2010, he completed his Doctor of Dental Surgery from the University of Maryland, Baltimore. Dr. Parkinson enjoys working with families and providing excellent dental care in a welcoming environment. He is passionate about learning Spanish and has been on dental service trips to Ecuador and the Dominican Republic. He hopes to go to Guatemala City next. In his free time, he enjoys wrestling and playing board games with his six kids.
Kimchi V. Nguyen, DDS Dental
Dr. Nguyen joined SBCHC in July 2019. She practices general dentistry with a focus on providing comprehensive dental care, emphasizing preventative dentistry in the pediatric and adult population. Dr. Nguyen received her Bachelors of Science from Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, and her Doctor of Dental Surgery from the University of Texas School of Dentistry at Houston and has been practicing dentistry since 2012. She enjoys volunteering, cooking, and traveling in her free time.
Karen Aguilera, RDH Dental
Karen Aguilera is a Registered Dental Hygienist at the Cy-Fair clinic. She is dedicated to higher education and earned her Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene from the University of Texas Health Science Center-School of Dentistry in 2011. Karen takes continuing education courses every year to keep abreast of the most recent scientific information to benefit her patients. Karen is passionate about delivering personalized care and educating her patients on keeping healthy, beautiful smiles! She is also fully bilingual in English and Spanish. In her free time, she enjoys listening to music, reading, and spending time with friends and family.
Rachel Tran, RDH Dental
Rachel joined SBCHC in November 2019. She graduated from the University of Houston-Main Campus in 2009 with a Bachelor of Science, and then continued her education at the University of Texas Health Science Center-School of Dentistry in 2011 to earn her Bachelor of Science degree in Dental Hygiene in 2013. Professionally, she is working to advance in Spanish to close the language gap. As her patient, you can expect a high quality and comfortable experience under her care. Besides dentistry, Rachel enjoys binge-watching Dick Wolf’s TV series with her husband, trying out new restaurants, and traveling. Most importantly, she enjoys spending time and caring for her three precious children.
